B.J. Penn (13-5) vs. Kenny Florian (11-3)
B.J. Penn vs Kenny Florian is a match that a lot of fans of the 155 pound weight division have been waiting for. Being a 155 pounder myself this fight is the one I am looking forward to seeing. Everybody knows this is BJ’s first fight since the infamous GSP fight. I think BJ has learned a lot from that fight and he will come out stronger and more focused than ever.
Kenny is riding a 6 fight win streak that include some big names like Roger Huerta and Joe Stevenson. Kenny has worked harder than ever for this fight perfecting many parts of his game in the process. Kenny is determined to bring down BJ who he considers to be the “Master”.
I think it is safe to say that their will be no slaying of any masters on August 8th. BJ Penn is too good at 155 pounds to be beat. Kenny will give a very competitive fight but I dont see how he can beat BJ. BJ has better hands and a far better ground game.
I got BJ via 2nd round TKO
Anderson Silva (24-5) vs. Forrest Griffin (17-5)
We all know Forrest was called to fight Anderson in order to “wake him up”. Forrest is known have a brawler who has tremendous heart. Anderson on the other hand is hands down one of the best if not the best fighter on the planet.
Forrest has not looked good recently against opponents who like to strike i.e. Jardine, Rashad, and Rampage. This is unfortunate for him because Anderson is the best striker in the world.
I got Anderson Silva via 1st round K.O
Kendall Grove (10-5) vs. Ricardo Almeida (10-3)
Some say despite beating Jason Day in his last fight, Kendall Grove could still be on the chopping block if he loses this fight. Almeida on the hand is a great submission specialist who dominates most of his opponents on the ground.
Kendall needs to use his longer reach and better striking skills to stay off his back. Almeida is battling for what hopefully will turn into a number one contender spot for him if he pulls off the win.
I got Almeida via 2nd round submission
Josh Neer (25-7) vs. Kurt Pellegrino (13-4)
This fight by far has fight of the night written all over it. I was leaning toward Josh Neer because of his experience and fast paced fighting style. That was until I saw how jacked Kurt Pellegrino looked at the weigh-ins. This tells me that Kurt is taking his training seriously and is looking to make a statement.
I got Batman via 3rd round TKO
Admir Sadollah (1-0) vs. Johny Hendricks (5-0)
Ah yes the battle of Xtreme Couture teammates. I have to show a little bias on this pick because I have taken some classes with Johny and he is a great guy. I also like his size, he is very strong and compacted.
I think Admirs inactivity will be his down fall in this fight. Johny is to stronger, a better wrestler, and in better condition than Admir is.
I got Johny via unanimous desicsion
